The Dark Night of the Soul is defined as “a period of spiritual desolation suffered by a mystic in which all sense of consolation is removed.”
If you are on your spiritual journey, you can almost guarantee that you will experience the dark night of the soul and least once in your life. I have gone through 2 of them so far. When you start your spiritual journey, everything begins to change. Your perspective on life, spirituality, and even your morals and values start to transform from what society told you it was to a more truthful space within yourself. These are all exciting periods to truly explore who you are and discover what it is you are on this world to do.
However, just like any change, there is a grieving period. A period where you have to let a part of your life die out so you can embrace the new changes that are happening. On a spiritual level, this is what happens during the Dark Night of the Soul. It isn't a period you can predict. It happens very randomly and can last a long or a short time depending on your journey.
When I went through my first Dark Night of the Soul, I had no idea what was happening to me. It felt like a depression. I had no passion for life. Externally, everything looked good. I had a great job, I was traveling for work, and I had no financial worries. But inside, I felt dead. I didn't want to do anything but go to work and come home and sleep. I reached out for help to try and figure out what was happening but it seemed like no one understood what I was going through. One evening on a deep internet dive looking up my symptoms, I came across a description of the Dark Night of the Soul. It described exactly what I was going through. This made me feel so much better because I could actually pinpoint what was happening to me. As I researched further, I began to see that even though it didn't feel like it, the Dark Night of the Soul I was experiencing was actually a good thing.
When you start your spiritual journey of awakening to who you truly are and begin the steps out of the matrix of illusions, everything in your life begins to change. As you step into a new perspective of life, your old perspectives (ego) begin to die. This part of things happens in the background and you don't normally realize it is happening. Eventually, it will come to the surface and you will have to deal with it. It's similar to what happens if someone close to you passes away. In the midst of you arranging the service, you may be too busy to actually deal with the feelings of that person no longer being with you physically. But eventually once things settle down, those feelings will come up to be dealt with.
The Dark Night of the Soul is an initiation process. It is letting you know that you have done a lot of hard work to make better changes in your life and you must take the time to let go of the feelings and experiences that caused you to have the thoughts and beliefs that you now are ready to release so you don't make the same mistakes. It's a period of much wisdom.
I can't tell you how long your process will last, or when it will come. But one thing I can promise is that it will end. And once it does you will feel might lighter, brighter, and more prepared to continue your journey.
If you are going through a Dark Night of the Soul at this time, remember these important facts:
The only thing permanent in this dimension is change. Nothing stays the same, this too shall pass.
This isn't a bad period. You did nothing wrong to get into this space. This is a slowing down point for you to reflect and allow old feelings and thoughts to come to the surface and be released. This is making room for you to manifest new things in your life.
Give yourself patience and grace. No one around you may understand what you are going through, and that is ok. Love yourself through the process and allow it to happen in your own timing. This is happening for a reason and only you can understand your journey.
Get into nature. Nature is a place of balance and harmony and spiritually will remind you that you are always in alignment.
MEDITATE! Make sure to take time out of your schedule to be in silence. This will help speed up the process. Meditation helps those thoughts and beliefs that you are releasing to come up more smoothly. It creates a safe space for you to feel. Better it happens in your meditation space than during your work hours.
In conclusion, you are not alone! You may feel like you are the only one going through this, but I can guarantee there is someone else going through the same thing or someone who has already passed through what you are dealing with. There is always support to assist you on the way. SeeYourFreedom is always available to guide you through the process. And at the most basic foundation, the love of your spirit is there for you. Keep going, keep growing, and keep working towards your highest self.
-With much love, SeeYourFreedom
